overview

Cheerful,

Sevens radiate joy, optimism, fun. They are spontaneous, adventurous and can experience almost childish surprise. They do not like to suffer that’s why they avoid negativity. “I was born to be happy.” They are epicureans, hedonists, focused on themselves, on their needs for fun, pleasure, adventures. Enthusiasts and adventurers, they rush into a new experience head-on. They need changes, stimulation, and new positive impressions.
They can get interested in something or someone quickly. As quickly they can lose interest and get bored. Their what is called “monkey mind” can’t focus on something for a long time. They are driven by everything new and exciting. They see the glass “half full” and perceives the world as a place of unlimited possibilities. They are very skilled in avoiding negativity like a plague using reframing, embellishing, or just physically evading it.
Sevens love adventures, new experiences and they love to anticipate and plan them. Sometimes the excitement of anticipation and planning is more attractive than efforts in implementing those plans.
When their enthusiasm is somehow stimulated, they can work tirelessly and effectively. They can perceive the situation holistically and broadly. Sevens do not like to be limited by the procedures, routines, and autocracy. Freedom is an important value for them. They will avoid anything that might infringe on their freedom, including any type of commitment. But they will not confront it openly. Their main strategies are humor and manipulation.

From my coaching experience:

The man is quite successful in business that he created in partnership with two other men a long time ago. Right now he’s not interested in developing it so much, using it just as a source of stable income that allows him to pursue what he loves: traveling, adventures, relationships. He loves being a DJ and a yoga instructor. These seemingly different activities satisfy his need for excitement, fun, novelty. He hops on and off the relationship, not staying in each for a long time as commitment is scary for him. He is always on the move, planning several meetings one after another. He’s always the last to come and first to leave as he heads off for some other event or meeting. Deep conversations, especially those causing negative emotions are not for him. He is satisfied with his life and doesn’t understand what it is that he needs to improve. Life is fun. Only women that he has had a relationship with, don’t think so. They feel baffled, abandoned, used. But he avoids any discussions, choosing just to leave.

Growth path

The key steps of growth:

(based on my coaching experience of type 7 clients)

  • Realize your inclination to avoid any negativity by escaping or distracting yourself or embellishing.

  • Be aware of your negative emotional reactions; appreciate them as the important indicators of your needs.

  • Stay in the present embracing the totality of the experience.

  • Be aware of your attachment to the comfort zone, whatever it is for you.

  • I can help you form key habits for this type that are like antidotes, free you from unhealthy habits. But first it’s better to start from the typing session
